Terms of Service

1. Service Description

Luminos is an AI-powered career intelligence platform. The Service provides:

• Company Research Reports -- AI-generated intelligence briefs on companies and roles, including team structure, growth signals, and hiring context
• Resume Optimization -- Tailored resume bullet suggestions designed to align your experience with specific job descriptions and applicant tracking system (ATS) requirements
• Cover Letter Drafts -- Personalized cover letter drafts generated from your resume, the job description, and company research
• H-1B Sponsor Data -- Historical and current work visa sponsorship data for US employers, UK licensed sponsors, and other jurisdictions, sourced from public government records
• Application Tracking via Gmail -- Optional Gmail integration that reads job-related email metadata (sender, subject, timestamps) to classify application responses and track status across companies
• Match Scoring -- An AI-generated score estimating how well your profile aligns with a specific role

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes in advance.

3. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information. All personal information, work history, skills, and credentials you provide must be accurate and truthful. Do not upload resumes or profiles containing fabricated experience or false claims.
• Use the Service lawfully. You will not use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Not upload malicious files. You will not upload files containing viruses, malware, or any code designed to damage, disrupt, or compromise the Service or its infrastructure.
• Not manipulate AI outputs for fraud. You will not attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, or otherwise exploit the AI system to produce fraudulent credentials, fabricated work histories, fake references, or any other deceptive content intended to mislead employers or third parties.
• Not abuse the platform. You will not use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service beyond normal use, reverse engineer the Service, or circumvent rate limits or access controls.
• Maintain account security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these responsibilities without prior notice.

4. Account and Authentication

You may create a Luminos account using email and password or via Google OAuth. When you connect your Gmail account:

• Luminos requests read-only access (the gmail.readonly scope) to scan for job-related emails from ATS platforms and recruiters.
• We only read email metadata: sender address, subject line, snippet (up to 300 characters), and timestamps. We do not read or store full email bodies.
• Gmail data is used exclusively to classify application responses (interview invitations, rejections, follow-ups) and update your application tracker.
• You can revoke access at any time through your Google Account permissions page or through the disconnect feature in your Luminos account settings.
• Upon revocation, all stored email metadata associated with your account will be deleted within 72 hours.

Our use of Google API data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you upload to the Service, including your resumes, personal information, and profile data. Luminos retains no ownership of user-uploaded resumes. We use your content solely to provide the Service to you, under a limited license that terminates when you delete your content or account.

5.2 AI-Generated Reports

AI-generated content produced by the Service (reports, cover letters, resume suggestions) is licensed to you for personal use only. You may use, edit, and incorporate these outputs into your job applications. You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit AI-generated reports. Because similar inputs may produce similar outputs for different users, Luminos does not guarantee the uniqueness of any AI-generated content.

5.3 Luminos Property

The Luminos brand, name, logo, user interface, design, algorithms, and source code are the proprietary property of Luminos Career Intelligence and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right or license to use the Luminos brand or proprietary materials beyond normal use of the Service.

6. Payment Terms

6.1 Plans

The Service offers a free tier (1 report per week) and paid subscription plans. Current pricing is listed on our Pricing page. We reserve the right to change prices with 30 days' notice.

6.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not collect or store your full credit card number. By subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms.

6.3 Refund Policy

Because career intelligence reports are digital goods generated on demand, no refunds are issued after a report has been generated. If you subscribe and have not yet generated any reports, you may request a refund within 7 days of your initial subscription by contacting legal@luminoscareer.com.

6.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged for subsequent periods. Your data and past reports remain accessible after cancellation.

6.5 Auto-Renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You will be charged the current subscription rate upon renewal.

7. Limitation of Liability

Luminos does not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose
• Use of the Service will result in job interviews, offers, or employment
• Company data, visa sponsorship records, or match scores will be current or correct

Luminos is not liable for:

• Missed job opportunities or application deadlines
• Inaccurate AI-generated suggestions, metrics, or claims
• Employment outcomes of any kind
• Decisions made by employers based on materials you submitted

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LUMINOS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO LUMINOS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data. Key points:

• All data is encrypted at rest and in transit
• We do not sell your personal data
• Email metadata is automatically deleted after 90 days
• You may export or delete your data at any time
• Resume data is never used for AI model training

9. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
